Pedro Pascal opens up about 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' casting controversy

Pedro Pascal has addressed fan concerns over his casting as Reed Richards in 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps', set for release in July.
In a recent Vanity Fair interview, Pascal acknowledged the backlash he has received ever since his role was announced.
"I'm more aware of disgruntlement around my casting than anything I've ever done," Pascal shared. "'He's too old. He's not right. He needs to shave.'"
Despite this, Pascal shared that Robert Downey Jr, now portraying Doctor Doom, has been a supportive presence.
"He's just so immediately generous and inviting that you feel like you can be afraid, you can be hungry, you can be ambivalent," Pascal shared about Robert Downey Jr.
The two will appear together in 2026's 'Avengers: Doomsday'. With recent MCU releases underperforming, Marvel Studios is banking on The Fantastic Four to revitalise interest—and is reportedly already planning a sequel ahead of the film's release.
