Mirage offers immersive vr journey into mental health struggles

Mirage is an interactive virtual reality experience depicting a young girl's struggle with depression and anxiety.
Set in a metaphorical desert, it draws on artist Naima Karim's experience with her daughter's mental health.
Using hand-tracking, spatial sound, original music, and a haptic vest, the audience journeys into the girl's mind to navigate her struggles and the challenge of accepting help.
The work aims to raise awareness and spark dialogue around the often misunderstood realities of depression and anxiety, encouraging empathy and inviting audiences to actively engage, share their experiences, and support others in recognising early signs and offering meaningful help.
