Matthew Perry docuseries set to premiere on Netflix
Netflix is set to honour the life and legacy of Friends star Matthew Perry with a new three-part docuseries, The One About Matthew Perry, arriving on 27 October.
The series will explore Perry's journey from rising comedy star to one of television's most recognisable performers through his beloved role as Chandler Bing. It will also delve into his private struggles, while examining the legacy of honesty and advocacy he left behind.
Perry's sister, Mia Perry Bowick, serves as a central voice in the documentary and will share previously unreleased photographs and videos from the family's personal archive. The project will also feature contributions from Perry's lifelong friends and creative collaborators, although it remains unclear whether any of his Friends co-stars will appear.
Directed by Mary Robertson, known for Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV and Framing Britney Spears, the series aims to present Perry as more than the character who made him famous.
Bowick said the documentary would allow audiences to see her brother as a whole person rather than simply as Chandler or someone who struggled with addiction. She described Perry as having a generous spirit and a remarkable ability to make people laugh even during his darkest moments.
The series will offer fans an intimate look at the man behind one of television's most enduring characters, while reflecting on the impact he had both on screen and through his advocacy.
