King gets a year end release date
The release date of Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film King has officially been announced, setting off a wave of excitement among fans and industry insiders alike. The action thriller is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 24 December, positioning it as a major year-end release.
Director Siddharth Anand unveiled the date through a teaser video that offers a glimpse of Khan in a striking new avatar. The short clip, intense in tone and scale, sees the superstar urging audiences to brace themselves for what promises to be a high-octane cinematic experience. The announcement quickly gained traction online, with Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan sharing the teaser on Instagram and filmmaker Karan Johar praising the reveal for "taking over the internet".
The film marks the second collaboration between Khan and Anand after the blockbuster Pathaan. The project was first announced on Khan's birthday last year, when the title King was revealed as a tribute to the actor's enduring legacy in Hindi cinema.
Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, King boasts a star-studded ensemble including Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi and Rani Mukerji. The screenplay has been written by a team comprising Sujoy Ghosh, Siddharth Anand, Suresh Nair, Sagar Pandya and Abbas Tyrewala.
Khan, who rose to fame with Baazigar in 1993 and later earned the title "King of Romance" through films such as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kal Ho Naa Ho, staged a major comeback in 2023 with Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. His recent work reaffirmed his box-office dominance, culminating in a career achievement honour at the Locarno Film Festival in 2024.
