Jewish actor Hannah Einbinder declared “Free Palestine” in her Emmy speech

'Hacks' star Hannah Einbinder won her first Emmy Sunday, taking Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Reflecting on past losses, she joked, "I was just really committed to the personal narrative that it was actually cooler to continue to lose. But this is cool too! This is also punk rock."
Her speech turned political at the end, when she declared, "Go Birds, f— ICE and free Palestine." While the profanity was muted, her pro-Palestinian message was broadcast. In the press room, she expanded on her stance, citing her friends in Gaza and framing the boycott of Israeli institutions as a moral obligation, especially as a Jewish performer.
She beat nominees including Liza Colon-Zayas, Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Jenelle James, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Jessica Williams.
Einbinder headlined an HBO Max special and will star in the film 'Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma'.
