Hideo Kojima shares new updates about Physint
Hideo Kojima has shared new details about Physint, his upcoming action-espionage game and spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid, following the return of his Koji10 podcast after a year-long break.
The veteran game director revealed that the project is being developed as a celebration of his 40th anniversary in the games industry.
While Physint will draw inspiration from the roots of Metal Gear Solid, Kojima wants it to offer a fresh interactive experience with a different approach to spy action and plenty of new ideas.
Kojima also confirmed that the story is already written and that he personally selected the actors involved in the project, with around 70% reportedly being fans of his work.
Several character names have also been finalised. Filming is scheduled to begin next year, with Bill Skarsgård, Charlie Fraser and Minami Hamabe already having undergone scans for their roles.
The update comes after major changes surrounding the game's publishing plans.
Sony reportedly dropped Physint before Microsoft stepped in to publish the project. Kojima, now 63, also said he approaches every game as though it could be his final one.
Physint is still several years away, with Kojima previously estimating a five-to-six-year development period. His other Microsoft project, OD, is expected to arrive first.
