GTA 6 delayed…again, releases 26 May 2026

Rockstar Games has pushed the release of 'Grand Theft Auto VI' to 26 May 2026—nearly a year after its original fall 2025 target. The studio apologised for the delay, saying it needs more time to meet the sky-high expectations for what's expected to be the biggest entertainment launch ever.
"We're sorry this is later than expected," Rockstar said, promising the extra time will deliver the quality fans deserve. Still no word on platforms or a second trailer, leaving speculation spinning faster than a five-star police chase.
While fans may be frustrated, the lack of new footage since the 2023 trailer made the delay feel inevitable.
Following the news, shares of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, dipped.
Still, the company hopes to ease the sting with other major releases this year—most notably 'Borderlands 4', which could help balance the books while fans wait to return to the world of carjacking and chaos.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick backed the delay, noting it's all in service of delivering a "blockbuster experience."
