Ferdausi Rahman launches her autobiography Loke Bole Prem Ami Boli Jwala
Legendary singer Ferdausi Rahman unveiled her autobiography, 'Loke Bole Prem Ami Boli Jwala', during a rainy Tuesday afternoon at Bengal Shilpalay in Dhaka. Published by Prothoma Prokashan, the book chronicles her illustrious musical journey spanning over half a century.
The title, borrowed from one of her most iconic tracks, captures her profound relationship with music. At the launch event, Rahman explained that the phrase reflects both her deep love for the craft and the exhausting torment required to truly master it.
The gathering drew prominent cultural figures and opened with a musical tribute by playback singer Anupama Mukti.
Fellow music icon Syed Abdul Hadi, who sang his debut duet with Rahman in the 1965 film 'Dakbabu', shared fond memories of their time together as students at Dhaka University. He praised her disciplined nature and unmatched versatility, crediting her success to sheer talent and the early guidance of her father, folk legend Abbasuddin Ahmad. Singer Kanak Chapa also paid a heartfelt tribute, calling Rahman the 'Himalayas' of the Bengali music tradition for her seamless mastery across classical, folk, and modern genres.
Beyond her vast playback catalogue, Rahman holds a special place in the hearts of millions of Bangladeshis as 'Khalamoni'. Through the classic television programme 'Esho Gaan Shikhi', she introduced generations of children to the world of music, cementing a legacy that goes far beyond the recording studio.
