Bengal Shilpalay’s Shotoborshe Sultan commences on 22 August

Bengal Foundation will inaugurate a special photography exhibition titled 'Shotoborshe Sultan' to commemorate the birth centenary of legendary artist S M Sultan (1924–1994). The opening ceremony will take place on 22 August 2025, at 6:00 pm at the Quamrul Hassan Exhibition Hall, Bengal Shilpalay, Dhanmondi.
The exhibition presents rare portraits of Sultan captured by eminent photographer Nasir Ali Mamun, along with original negatives, handwritten letters and memorabilia from his private collection, many being shown publicly for the first time. Tracing his journey from Masimdia, Narail, to his later years, the show offers an evocative glimpse into the artist's life.
A commemorative catalogue, 'Seeding the Soul', will also be launched.
Distinguished artist Monirul Islam and Matiur Rahman, Editor of The Daily Prothom Alo, will grace the occasion as Guests of Honour, alongside Md Mahbub ur Rahman, CEO of HSBC Bangladesh. The exhibition will be launched in collaboration with HSBC Bangladesh.
