Apu Biswas signs for a new web film
After a three-year hiatus, Dhallywood's beloved queen, Apu Biswas, is firmly back in the spotlight. Having revitalised her career late last year, the actress has now signed on for 'Shikar', a gritty web film directed by Kamruzzaman Roman that promises to blend high-stakes suspense with her signature glamour.
Set against a precarious border-area backdrop, 'Shikar' is being touted by Roman as a narrative-driven thriller. "The story is our greatest strength," the director noted, confirming that the production team is already deep into rehearsals. In an intriguing casting choice, Biswas will share the screen with television breakout star Polash, alongside a seasoned supporting cast including Rashed Mamun Apu and Mahmudul Islam Mithu.
The production, penned by Abdullah Zahir Babu, is set for an international flavour. The crew is scheduled to depart for Nepal in early March to capture the bulk of the film's sequences. While the specific OTT platform remains under wraps, the buzz suggests a major local release is imminent.
Biswas is currently balancing a packed portfolio. Beyond her digital ventures, she has recently committed to two theatrical projects: 'Secret' and the murder mystery 'Durbar'.
