Actor Omar Sani has reported an incident of robbery that took place 13 days ago at his residence in Dhaka.

"It happened about two weeks ago at around midnight on Sunday [1 December]. When I returned home that night, I discovered that the bedroom door was locked from the inside," the actor told the media on Monday (16 December).

"After unsuccessful attempts to open the door, my caretaker and manager noticed the glass of the door had already been broken."

Upon entering the room, they found that several important items, including documents related to a Tk2 crore fraud case, an iPhone, and gold jewellery belonging to his daughter, had been missing.

However, a laptop in the room was left behind.

Speaking to reporters, Omar Sani said his son Fardeen had been defrauded Tk2 crore through a cryptocurrency transaction.

The case was ongoing, with the verdict expected soon, and the missing documents were crucial, he said, adding that his lawyer held copies of the documents.

Sani also revealed that Fardeen had invested over Tk2 crore in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency with a businessman named Nishat Bin Zia Rumman, whom he met in 2022.

After several transactions, Fardeen discovered that Nishat had no bank account or valid business license, and refused to return the money when asked.

Omar Sani decided to file a case with the Bhatara Police Station and informed the authorities about the robbery.

Contacted, Gulshan Police's Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakib Hasan told The Business Standard that the police did not received any official complaint yet.
