Abdullah Mohammad Saad and Raihan Rafi team up for Eyes
In an unexpected collaboration that bridges the gap between mainstream blockbusters and independent cinema, hitmaker Raihan Rafi is teaming up with acclaimed auteur Abdullah Mohammad Saad for a new feature film titled 'Eyes'.
Produced by Tanveer Hossain, the project is currently in the development stage and has already hit its first major milestone by securing a spot at the CoPro-Access Lab 2026.
Taking to Facebook to announce the news, Rafi expressed his excitement about merging their contrasting cinematic styles. He noted that the local industry has long suffered from a "false divide" between arthouse and commercial cinema.
"I have never believed that cinema should be trapped inside these boxes," Rafi wrote. "A film can be emotional, entertaining, thoughtful, urgent, and still reach people deeply."
The upcoming film will see Saad – best known for the Cannes-celebrated 'Rehana Maryam Noor' – stepping in as the writer, while Rafi takes the director's chair. Rafi believes the magic of 'Eyes' will stem directly from this unique clash of creative instincts.
He explained that Saad brings his signature psychological depth, silence, and fragile human truth to the script, while Hossain provides the persistent producing vision. On his end, Rafi plans to inject his usual flair for pacing, scale, and audience connection.
"Somewhere between these energies, I believe 'Eyes' can find its own language," he added, thanking the CoPro-Access Lab team for backing the project.
While the cast and production schedule remain tightly under wraps, the mere announcement of two of the country's most distinct filmmakers joining forces has already sent ripples of excitement through the local film community.
