The First Gentleman of Singapore, Mohammed Abdullah Alhabshee has sent gift items for Rohingyas who have been relocated in Bhasan Char.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen came up with the disclosure while addressing a view exchange meeting titled at a hotel in Sylhet on Friday.

Alhabshee is the First Gentleman of Singapore as he is the spouse of the incumbent President of Singapore, Halimah Yacob.

Dr Momen said Singapore gave a hand to the Rohingyas after they were relocated to the island. 

"Another 3,000 Rohingyas are being relocated today. A total of 1 lakh Rohingyas will be taken there," he said, adding the relocation process is being done for the betterment of the Rohingyas.

The minister further said all the river banks of Sylhet would wear an eye-catchy look like that of developed countries. Besides, a beautiful liberation tower will be erected in the city. 

He thanked the city dwellers for cooperating the authorities in the development projects.

With Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury as chair, Local Government Minister Md Tajul Islam attended the programme as chief guest.

Awami League Sylhet city unit President and Freedom Fighter Mashuk Uddin Ahmed and LGRD Senior Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed, among others, spoke on the occasion.
