Bangladesh to convey position to Myanmar over Rohingya statement
This statement is a calculated attempt to rewrite history, whitewash state-sponsored crimes, and evade the international community's calls for accountability, said the UCR in a statement.
Bangladesh will convey its position to Myanmar through its envoy in Dhaka today (18 August) over a "factually incorrect" statement issued by the Myanmar's military-backed government recently concerning the Rohingyas sheltered in Bangladesh.
Myanmar's Ambassador to Bangladesh Kyaw Soe Moe is scheduled to meet the Director General concerned at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon, a foreign ministry source told UNB. The United Council of Rohingya (UCR) has already categorically rejected and condemned the "misleading" press statement issued by the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 15.
This statement is a calculated attempt to rewrite history, whitewash state-sponsored crimes, and evade the international community's calls for accountability, said the UCR in a statement.
