Six Covid-19 patients, suspects die at RMCH in a day

Six patients -- four of them diagnosed with Covid-19 and another two hospitalised with coronavirus-like symptoms -- have died on the same day while undergoing treatment at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).

They died at the hospital in the time between Tuesday late night and Wednesday afternoon.

Among the deceased, Zikrul Haque, 72, of Beldarpara in Rajshahi, Nusrat Sultana Noori, 32, wife of Rafiqul Islam of Hatemkha area, Anukul Chandra Pramanik, 50, of Kazir Mor in Naogaon and Liakat Ali, 60, from Ramnagar of Pabna Sadar upazila were Covid-19 positive.

Meanwhile, Altaf Hossain, 62, of Shalgari village in Pabna Sadar upazila and Aklima Begum, 60, wife of Osman Mandal of Naopara village in Lalpur upazila of Natore died with Covid-19 symptoms. Samples have been collected from them for coronavirus test, according to the RMCH authorities.

The people concerned have been advised to bury the dead bodies in compliance with health guidelines, said Deputy Director of RMCH Dr Saiful Ferdous.

The hospital has made arrangement to send the dead bodies to their native homes, he added.
