A Dhaka court today (20 October) imposed a travel ban on Liaquat Ali Lucky, former director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.

Acting Judge Mohammad Ibrahim Mia of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court issued the order in response to a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya filed the petition seeking a travel ban on Liaquat Ali Lucky.

Keya in her petition alleged that Lucky is accused of embezzling hundreds of crores of Taka through bribes, recruitment manipulation, abuse of power, various irregularities, corruption, and fraudulent bills and vouchers, and has laundered a substantial amount of money abroad.

A four-member team of the ACC has been investigating these allegations against Lucky, AD Keya said, adding that the accused may leave the country to avoid investigation so that a travel ban against him is very much needed.
