Police arrested two suspected robbers in a drive following a robbery attempt in Dhaka's Rupnagar area last night (18 October).

The arrestees were identified as Sazzad Hossain Sagar, 28, and Shamim Fakir, 26.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive behind the Rupnagar Housing Jam-e-Mosque and arrested them while they were preparing to commit a robbery.

Police also seized two sharp weapons from their possession.

However, four to five suspected robbers managed to flee the scene, sensing the presence of law enforcers.

During primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they were active members of a robber gang.

Meanwhile, Sazzad was wanted in several cases with different district police stations, while Shamim was wanted in a robbery case filed with Rupnagar Police Station.
