BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed has demanded that the masterminds of enforced disappearances and killing be brought to book.

The culture of enforced disappearance and killing must be wiped out of the country forever,  Salahuddin told reporters after a meeting with former Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury, chairman of the inquiry commission of enforced disappearances, in Dhaka.

He said, "I appeared before the inquiry commission so that my disappearance issue can be officially registered. You [reporters] know everything about my disappearance. Posing as law enforcement agencies, they picked me up from a residence in Uttara at around 9pm on 10 March 2015. I had disappeared for 61 days and then trafficked to a country. I shared this in detail."

"The inquiry commission will put these issues up for investigation. I don't know how far the commission's jurisdiction is. I told them [commission] that I would lodge a case at the International Crimes Tribunal," he said.

He alleged that he was a victim of enforced disappearance upon directives from former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Zia Ahsan, Benazir and Tarik Siddiqui.

"It is the demand of the nation, the July-August revolution and blood of the martyrs to ensure their [masterminds] punishment," the BNP leader said.

He also urged the government to bring back those who fled the country.
