The interim government of Bangladesh is eager to take bilateral relations with China to new heights, said Md Nahid Islam, advisor to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology.

During a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen at the ministry today, Nahid also said that China has been a long-standing friend of Bangladesh and the two countries share historical and cultural ties.

The Chinese ambassador remarked that under the leadership of the interim government, Bangladesh's situation is gradually returning to normal, and further improvement is expected in the future.

He also commented that regardless of Bangladesh's political situation, the strong relationship between Bangladesh and China will remain unchanged.

Nahid thanked the ambassador for sending a medical team to treat those injured in the anti-discrimination student movement.

The advisor stressed that the primary goal of the interim government is to reform and restructure the state's framework.

He noted that just as China achieved economic prosperity following its revolution, Bangladesh seeks to gain a similar experience, as the country has recently undergone its own revolution to attain a new form of independence.

He added that China's advice and cooperation are crucial for Bangladesh in its reform efforts.

The ambassador responded by expressing confidence that the interim government will be able to build a new Bangladesh through reforms. He also extended an invitation to the advisor to visit China.

The advisor further commented that he believes China will play a significant role in the expansion of Bangladesh's digital economy.

The meeting was attended by Md Mushfiqur Rahman, secretary of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications; Shish Haider Chowdhury, secretary of the ICT Division; Song Yang, economic and commercial counsellor of the Chinese Embassy; and Cui Yifeng, first secretary of the embassy.
