Case filed over Saturday's blast

A case has been filed over the blast targeting Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Tajul Islam’s car that injured two police officials under explosive control act against unidentified miscreants.

Jahirul Islam, sub-inspector of New Market Police Station, filed the case on Saturday midnight.

The assistant commissioner of Newmarket zone DMP, Md. Saiful Islam confirmed the matter.

On Saturday night, unidentified miscreants threw a handmade bomb targeting the LGRD Minister’s car at capital’s Science Lab intersection.

Two policemen - ASI Sahabuddin and constable Aminul - of minister's protocol team sustained injuries in the attack. They were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Islamic State (IS), a jihadi militants’ group, has claimed the responsibility for the attack.
