"Police, RAB and army personnel have been carrying out joint drives to nab the accused in Tanjim's murder case. Upon receiving the information that some of the accused were staying at Kahariyaghona area in Chakaria, the joint forces conducted a drive there early Friday," Abul Kalam said.

"Two people tried to flee when joint forces reached the place. The forces chased and arrested them, and found two locally-made guns and three bullets upon searching them," Abul Kalam added.

Abul Kalam also said the arrestees confessed to their involvement in the murder during primary interrogation.

"Among the arrestees, Nasir confessed that he had stabbed Tanjim in the throat, and Enamul confessed that he had helped Nasir," Abul Kalam said.

The RAB director added that the arrestees have been handed over to Chakaria police station.

Lt Tanjim Sarwar Nirjon died after getting stabbed by robbers while conducting an operation at East Maizpara in Chakaria's Dulahazara around 3am on Monday (23 September).

Police and the army lodged two cases with Chakaria police station as plaintiff in this regard on early Wednesday (25 September).

According to ISPR, upon receiving the news of a robbery at Maizpara in Chakaria, members of Chakaria army camp reached the spot within an hour.

During the drive, Tanzim chased 7-8 robbers, and at one point, was stabbed in the neck by them.

As Tanjim started to bleed, he was rushed to Malumghat memorial Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

A total of six robbers were detained by the joint forces during the drive, from whom two guns, 11 round bullets, a knife, a pickup truck and a motorcycle were seized.

Tanjim, hailing from Tangail, finished his Higher Secondary Examinations from Pabna Cadet College.
