The Joydebpur Thana police recovered the body of a young man from inside the median strip on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in ​​Gazipur Sadar Upazila this (September 24) around 6am.

The body has been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The deceased has been identified as Abu Bakr (25), who hails from Garja village in Mymensingh.

Locals informed the police after seeing the body lying on the median strip. 

AH Halim, brother of the deceased, said the two brothers used to collect bottles from the footover bridge in Bagher Bazar area of ​​Dhaka-Mymensingh highway and the surrounding areas. 

He said Abu Bakr was addicted to drugs. Around 8pm on Monday night, they had dinner together and went out to collect bottles.

After a while, they went in different directions and Abu Bakr did not return, he claimed.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Joydebpur Police Station Abdul Halim said the body was recovered and sent to the morgue for post-mortem after receiving information from the locals. 

There were injury marks on the body of the victim. 

Legal action will be taken if a complaint is received from the victim's family, he said.
