The body of a fisherman has been recovered 13 hours after he went missing while fishing in the sea off Cox's Bazar's Teknaf yesterday (22 September).

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Russell, 20, son of Ishak Ahmed of Jahajpura area in Teknaf's Baharchhara union.

"The body was recovered floating near Shilkhali Ghat in Baharchhara union around 7am today," Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Gias Uddin told The Business Standard.

Quoting the deceased's family and locals, the OC said, "Yesterday evening, Russell and several local fishermen went fishing in the sea near Jahajpura Ghat. At one point, he was swept away by the currents."

"Despite searching for him in various places, the other fishermen could not find him. Today, his family found Russell's body floating near Shilkhali Ghat and informed the police.

"The deceased's body is currently at his home," the OC added.
