Ashik Chowdhury, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida), has been appointed as the new executive chairman of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (Beza).

According to a notification issued by the Chief Adviser's Office (CAO) today (18 September), until further notice, Ashik will serve both institutions simultaneously.

The order will come into effect immediately in the public interest, the notification reads.

He will succeed Md Sarwar Bari as the Beza executive chairman.

On 12 September, Ashik was appointed as the BIDA executive chairman. 

Earlier, Ashik was the associate director of the Real Estate Finance Division of the multinational The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in Singapore.
