Four workers were killed in an oil tank explosion at the Majumdar Product Limited factory in Sherpur, Bogura.

According to the Fire Service and local sources, four workers were on top of the tank and three were underneath, repairing the oil line, when sparks from welding ignited the tank, causing an explosion. The four workers on top were thrown off, sustaining severe injuries.

They were immediately rushed to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared them dead, hospital sources said.

Fire Service official Md Saiful Islam said, "We arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a fire but found no flames. However, we saw evidence of an oil tank explosion. We learned that external lathe workers were hired for the repair work. They informed us that three people were injured in the explosion and sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for treatment. Now, we have learned that four people have died in the incident."

Sherpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Suman Jihadi said, "I have spoken with the deputy commissioner, and he has already sent an additional deputy commissioner to the hospital to support the families of the deceased workers."

The upazila administration will form a five-member committee to investigate the cause, he added.
