A Dhaka court today (8 September) placed Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President and former information minister Hasanul Haque Inu on a four-day fresh remand in a case filed over killing Ideal College student Khalid Hasan Saifullah during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order as police produced him before the court and pleaded for a seven-day remand for proper investigation.

On 3 September, Inu was remanded for five-day in truck driver Md Sujon murder case.

Inu was detained from his residence at Uttara on 26 August. The next day, he was produced before the court and remanded for seven days in businessman Abdul Wadud murder case.

Saifullah was killed on 18 July at Lalbagh while protesting under the banner of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Kamrul Hasan, father of the deceased, filed the case with Lalbagh Police Station the next day, against 52 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
