The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) is going to cancel a contract with TigerIT Bangladesh Ltd.

In 2016, BRTA awarded the company with the contract for ‘Supply of Personalized Dual Interface Polycarbonate Motor Driving License’ cards.

On April 24, the World Bank blacklisted the IT firm on charges of collusive, corrupt, and obstructive practices in the Elections Commission’s Identification System for

Enhancing Access to Services (IDEA) Project. According to the deal with the BRTA, TigerIT — one of the largest IT firms of the country — was tasked with supplying 15 lakh smart driving cards.

The estimated cost of the project was Tk74.98 lakh. The decision was taken Wednesday during a meeting of the cabinet committee on government purchase.

After the meeting, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said they were looking for new firm to hand over the task.

“The government will appoint new company who will do the job at the same price,” added the minister.
