An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Dhaka has been sued by his wife over allegations of feticide, torture and dowry.

The plaintiff, Israt Rahman, filed the case against ASP Nazmus Shakib with Ramna Police Station on Thursday night, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Mainul Islam.

Sajjadur Rahman, deputy commissioner of DMP's Ramna Division, told The Business Standard that they were investigating the allegations.
Ishrat Rahman also brought allegations against her father and mother-in-laws.

According to the complaint, Ishrat Rahman got married to Nazmus Shakib (34) in March 2017.  Since her marriage, Nazmus Shakib along with his parents continued to torture her for dowry. She was forced to have an abortion in July 2019.

Ishrat further alleged, "He (Shakib) is threatening to spread the personal photos and videos of me on internet."

ASP Nazmus Shakib works at the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) headquarters.

When contacted, ASP Nazmus Shakib declined to make any comment.
