Home goers leaving Dhaka, as DMP lifts restriction

Many home goers are rushing to their village homes on private cars, motorcycles and other means, not any public transport, as Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) lifted all check posts from three exit points of Dhaka from Friday midnight.

Additional Inspector General of Highway Police Mollick Fakhrul Islam said, "The number of home goers are less in the highways than previous 3/4 days."

All the check posts across the country were lifted. Some policemen have been deployed in the highways including Dhaka-Chattogram and Dhaka-Sylhet to maintain the security of the home goers.

Check posts on Dhaka-Chattogram and Dhaka-Sylhet highway have been lifted, said Jishan Haque, additional superintendent of police, Narayanganj Highway.

BIWTA also resumed ferry service in all the ghats across the country.

Mahmuda Afroz Lucky, additional deputy commissioner of Darus Salam zone said, "People now can go to their villages by own or private vehicle or any other means, but public transport will remain closed as before."

"We lifted check posts in the city's Gabtoli area as per the decision of DMP's high officials," Mahmuda Afroz also said.

Earlier, police imposed the restrictions on entry and exit from the cities to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, that killed 408 people in the country as of Thursday.
