14 doctors infected with coronavirus in Ctg

A total of 14 doctors and eight health workers were infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19) in different hospitals in Chattogram till today.

Among them, a 36-year-old gynaecologist and a 26-year-old female doctor of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) were tested positive for coronavirus at the CMCH Covid-19 Laboratory in the last 24 hours.

Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Chattogram chapter General Secretary Faisal Iqbal Chowdhury told BSS that a gynaecologist of CMCH and a 26-year-old female doctor at Chawkbazar area were infected with coronavirus in last 24 hours.

With them, 14 doctors and eight health workers in Chatogram were infected with coronavirus while providing medical services to people, he added.

Meanwhile, 61 more people, including two doctors and three policemen, were tested positive for coronavirus in the two Covid-19 laboratories only in Chattogram district in last 24 hours, Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS.

After the first coronavirus patient was identified in Dampara on April 3, the number of confirmed cases in Chattogram rose to 573 only in Chattogram district in the last 43 days, he added.
