Prof Anisuzzaman's condition deteriorates again

The health condition of National Professor Anisuzzaman, now undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, has deteriorated again.

"All of a sudden my father's health condition has deteriorated drastically today. He is having chest pain. Doctors have decided to shift him to CCC (Critical Care Center)," his son Ananda Zaman told The Business Standard today.

Professor Anisuzzaman was shifted to the CMH from another city hospital on Saturday after his health condition deteriorated.

He was admitted to the Universal Cardiac Hospital in the city on April 27 with various health complications. As his condition worsened, he was taken to the intensive care unit of the hospital on May 1.

Anisuzzaman is an eminent educator, writer and professor emeritus of Bangla Department at Dhaka University. He was made a National Professor in 2018.

He participated in the 1952 language movement, the 1969 mass upsurge and the 1971 liberation war. After independence, he became a member of the Kudrat-E-Khuda National Education Commission.
