5 health benefits of smoothies

Smoothies are drinks that are, more or less, liked by all. Drinking green smoothies on a regular basis will keep you healthy, hydrated and well-energized to lead an active life.

Having smoothies with breakfast every day can surely pave the way for getting the nutrition we need for our body. The Business Standard has picked five benefits of drinking smoothies made of green vegetables and a selection of fruits.

Water is the most abundant substance in the human body. About 70 percent of our body is water. Drinking green smoothies in breakfast is a great way to replenish the loss of water in your body during summer.

Better digestion

Green smoothies that contain a lot of green leafy vegetables add essential vitamins and minerals to a breakfast platter. Those vitamins and minerals make digestions process faster and improve bowel movement.

The fibre supplied by these drinks multiplies the benefits of drinking smoothies, especially in the summer. Green smoothies enriched with vitamins and minerals are good for health for both adults and youngsters during Ramadan.

Improves immunity

Better immunity system helps your body fight against a variety of pathogens and diseases. This natural potential becomes degenerated due to several reasons. Smoothies made with carrots, spinach, water-melon and squash contain beta-carotene that helps boost our immune system.

Detoxifies the body

Leafy vegetables, papaya and beet help get rid of several toxins accumulated in our body tissues. Including smoothies made of a mixture of these vegetables at breakfast can help to detoxify your body every day.

Source of calcium

A regular intake of calcium in the right amount is essential for bone and tooth health. Smoothies prepared with dairy or fortified dairy can be a great source of calcium for the body. Also, leafy vegetables and fruits like berries, oranges, pineapples, and litchis will provide calcium to your body.
