BUP runs classes online since first day of shutdown

Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) has been running classes online since the very first day of the shutdown imposed to curb the Covid-19 outbreak.

The online activities are being monitored by the Office of the Evaluation, Faculty and Curriculum Development (OFCD) of BUP with the support of the ICT Centre, under the guidance of Vice-chancellor Maj Gen Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, a press release reads.

All course materials, lectures, presentations etc. are uploaded in the University Comprehensive Academic Manager (UCAM), a customised academic management web application developed by BUP.

Classes have now become fruitful with above 90 percent participation of students.

Faculty members are using Google classrooms, Facebook group, Viber, WhatsApp and other social media to make the classes spontaneous and interactive.

The university provides financial supports to students, which include internet bill, cash money, different types of scholarship and stipend.

In terms of official activities, meetings with the Deans' Committee are being conducted regularly under the chairmanship of the Vice-chancellor through videoconferencing to evaluate all academic activities.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has also appreciated the BUP's effort in this regard.

The university will conduct classes online until the Covid-19 situation improves.
