Standard Bank employees provide food for 30,000 families

In order to distribute food among vulnerable groups, the employees of Standard Bank Limited donated their one-day salary worth Tk28 lakh to Bidyanondo Foundation, a voluntary organisation in the country engaged in multidimensional humanitarian activities.

The humanitarian organisation on behalf of the bank will spend this money to distribute food relief among 30,000 poor and underprivileged families.

On Sunday, Khondoker Rashed Maqsood, managing director and chief executive officer of the bank handed over the donation cheque to Jakir Hossain, chief financial officer at Bidyanondo Foundation.

Among others from the bank- Md Motaleb Hossain, deputy managing director, Alkona K Choudhuri, head of human resources division, and Md Ali Reza, chief financial officer, attended the event.

During this holy month of Ramadan, the foundation plans to distribute cooked food among around 24,000 people every day apart from its food assistance to about 3 lakh families.

Rashed Maqsood said, "It is the sacred duty of all of us to stand beside the vulnerable people during this crisis time." 

He thanked all the employees of his organisation for their contributions and urged the country's wealthy people to stand beside these poor people. 

The foundation is highly regarded for its tireless role in meeting the basic needs of the poor and underprivileged children.
