JaPa co-chairs Salma, Firoz withdraw candidacy

Jatiya Party (JaPa) co-chairs Salma Islam and Kazi Firoz Rashid have withdrawn their nominations from Dhaka-17 and Dhaka-6 respectively in the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad polls slated for 7 January.
However, Salma will contest for the Dhaka-1 seat as a JaPa candidate.
The withdrawal letters were submitted to the returning officer on Sunday (17 December), the final day for candidates to withdraw their nominations.

Meanwhile, Farhana Sayeed, wife of former Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sayeed Khokon, withdrew her nomination as an independent candidate from the Dhaka-6 seat.
Sayeed Khokon is running as an Awami League candidate in this seat.
