Akbar to put World Cup memorials on auction

National team cricketers had already announced that they will put up their cricketing memorials on auction to help raise funds to battle the coronavirus pandemic. Shakib Al Hasan's bat was already auctioned and sold for Tk 20 lacs and players like Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Ashraful are on the line.

In the meantime, Bangladesh Under-19 skipper Akbar Ali has announced that he too will be putting up two memorials from the U-19 World Cup final to battle the pandemic. He announced this through a Facebook post on his account. 

Akbar was adjudged the man of the match in the nerve-racking final where he guided Bangladesh to World Cup glory. He will be putting up the jersey and the batting gloves of that match on auction to help the bereaved people. 

"Undoubtedly winning the U-19 World Cup is my greatest achievement. During this coronavirus crisis, I have decided to put up two of my memorials from that match (1. The jersey of the final, 2. The Batting gloves used in the final) on auction. The money raised from the auction will be used to help the people who are in trouble due to the coronavirus," Akbar's status read. 

Akbar is yet to disclose the details of where and when the auction will take place. The auction for Shakib's bat was held on the Facebook page of the charity organisation 'Auction 4 Action'.
