Illegal students won’t be allowed at halls: DU
Students of university have long been demanding an end to the accommodation crisis at the residential halls
The Dhaka University (DU) authorities has decided not to allow any illegal students to stay at the dormitories after the reopening of the university.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the provost committee, organised to discuss the health risk of students in the post-coronavirus days and overall atmosphere of the dormitories, said a DU press release issued on April 29.
"Only the legal students will be allowed to stay at the residential halls as per the rules of university. Those who do not have studentship cannot stay at the halls," the university said.

Five decisions were taken to reduce health risk of students, including barring non-students from the dormitories, improve the residential, educational and overall atmosphere of the halls, resolve the room crisis, and renovate the dorms.
DU Bijoy Ekattor Hall Provost Prof Dr Abdul Bashir told UNB that the authorities decided not to allow any illegal students at any dorms or anyone to stay on the floors of any of the rooms after the reopening of the University.
Chaired by DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Pro Vice-Chancellor (education) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Pro Vice-Chancellor (administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin and provosts of all the halls attended the meeting held Tuesday.
