Member of Parliament of Patuakhali-1 Constituency Shahjahan Mia breathed his last while undergoing treatment in a hospital in the capital on 21 October.

The by-election to Patuakhali-1 vacant seat will take place on 26 November.

This decision was taken in the 25th Election Commission meeting held at the Election Commission building conference room on Tuesday (24 October), EC Secretary Jahangir Alam informed reporters following the meeting.

According to the announced schedule, the deadline for submission of nomination papers is 1 November, nominations will be finalised on 2 November, last date of withdrawal is 9 November, and symbols will be allocated on 10 November.

This by-election will be conducted through ballot.
