Two cricketers and BCB doctor in quarantine

Bangladesh national team's left-handed opener Sadman Islam Anik, and under-19 pacer Mrittunjoy Chowdhury have been quarantined after they returned back home from Australia.

In order to safeguard against the coronavirus pandemic, everyone has been mandated to be home quarantined for a couple of weeks, after returning home from abroad, a rule made by the government.

Both of them underwent surgery at Melbourne as Sadman had an elbow surgery whereas Mrittunjoy had an injured shoulder.

BCB doctor Debashish Chowdhury was there alongside them and he also had to be self-isolated at home. The Business Standard confirmed about the players being quarantined.

Mrittunjoy claims keeping a maximum possible precautionary measure is essential as they travelled from abroad.

He said, "As coronavirus is causing mass panic in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) personnel facilitated our test to check our health status, hence they didn't allow us to mingle with other people."

Left-handed opener Sadman added, "I reached home after landing in Bangladesh and haven't gone outside. I had to sign at the airport prior to getting out and reached that with that paper. I've been staying at home ever since, and was strongly recommended by BCB to not go outside. The airport was highly crowded and we conducted tests separately."

He added, "I've spent the entire day with my parents since I landed in Bangladesh. I didn't have the scope to visit friends and it was even prohibited to attend the mosque for prayers. I have never been in such a situation which is why I have no clue what to do."

BCB doctor Debashish Chowdhury said, "We have to accept the scenario, as self-quarantine is a part of safety, We are not only performing solely as instruction but to be self-cautious, so that I don't spread any disease to anyone. Hence I attended the test that the airport regularly conducted."

Alongside these three BCB directors, Kazi Inam Ahmed was the latest participant of in-home quarantine after coming from Bangkok a few days back.

Coronavirus has prompted BCB to take safety measures when anyone visits their office. They have to rigorously sanitise their hands and attend tests.

Alongside, they have been instructed by the president Nazmul Hasan to not leave their homes unless deemed extremely essential.
