What steps are taken to prevent coronavirus, High Court asks

The court ordered to file the report to the Ministry of Health and the Department of Health by next Monday.

The High Court has issued a ruling asking authorities concerned to inform it about the steps taken to prevent coronavirus in Bangladesh.

High Court bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Quader issued the sou-muto ruling when a lawyer brought news report on "Bangladesh is at high risk of coronavirus" to the notice of the court.

The court ordered to file the report to the Ministry of Health and the Department of Health by next Monday.

Deputy Attorney General Barrister ABM Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar represented the state.

The court asked to inform that when foreigners arrive in Bangladesh through land ports, seaports, airports, especially in airports, what kind of screening are being done before entering in the Bangladesh, whether the ones conducting the tests are trained and whether the instruments are capable of testing.

At the same time, the court ordered to inform about the progress of taking precautionary measures for coronavirus in all public hospitals as well as in the private hospitals.

In every hospital or port where coronavirus testing is needed, whether there are enough equipment, if not, the court directed the government to import it on an emergency basis.

The court also told to inform the progress of implementing the directives on Monday.
