The members of the World Champion Bangladesh Under-19 side are one by one returning to their hometowns. The young Tigers had received a heroes ovation on Wednesday after they returned home from South Africa and that has not stopped as they are all being felicitated at their respective hometowns.

Among them are Bangladesh U-19 side opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim and middle-order batsman Towhid Hridoy. They received a grand ovation at their hometown Bogura after they reached there.

They were at first greeted with flowers at the town's Banani Mor by the Bogura District Sports Association around 11 am. Tamim and Towhid were then taken to the recently-built Bangabandhu statue at Shatmatha Square and felicitated again.

Towhid was surprised to receive such an ovation at Bogura. He said, "I did not expect such an ovation here. I am feeling proud to be from Bogura. I am pleased because I could do something for the country."

Tamim was still in awe about winning the World Cup as he could not believe it yet that they were the World Champions. He said, "When we won the final or left South Africa, we could not judge the magnitude of our achievement. Everyone was waiting for us at the airport. It was then when we understood that we had done something for the country. This is an extraordinary feeling. We understood after returning home how happy the people were."

Towhid further added, "Winning the World Cup is a matter of pride for us. The seniors could not do it but we did."

Tamim's parents were waiting for their son since Wednesday. His mother could not hold back her tears after her son returned home.

"My son has returned home after such a long time. That too after being crowned World Champions. I can not put into words how proud I am. I prayed for them the whole time," Tamim's mother Rehana Akter said.

She further said, "I ask for everyone's blessings so that my son can make it big. So that he can do something for the nation."

Tamim's father Tojammel Haque also asked the whole country for blessings for his son.

"My son has won the World Cup. He has to do more for the country. Everyone please pray for my son," Tamim's proud father said.

Towhid's parents also asked for everyone's blessings. They could not stay for a long time as Towhid's sister was sick.
