The government has appointed Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem, senior secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, as the chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for the next two years.

He will also be in charge of the Internal Resources Division of the finance ministry, a government notification said on Wednesday.

"The government is now facing many challenges in the financial sector. The revenue collection growth is much lower than the target. But I am ready to overcome these through a proper plan," Muneem told The Business Standard.
