Girl raped and murdered in Narayanganj; 6 arrested

The body of a 16-year-old girl was recovered from roadside in Fatullah of Narayanganj today. Police have confirmed that the girl had been gang raped.

The rape took place in the alley by the mosque adjacent Shahjalal Rolling Mill area in Battala of Fatullah police station in Sadar upazila on December 9, said Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Monirul Islam.

The police have arrested six people – Russel, Al-Amin, Robin, Sumon, Shahadat Hossain and Shujon – on suspicion of their involvement in the rape and murder.

"The victim worked at Abdul Quadir's coil factory in the area and lived in a rented house in Fakirbari area of Goganagar union," said Inspector Mizanur Rahman of Fatullah Model police station.

"The victim was on her way home after leaving work with the factory owner. They were stopped along the way by Russell and his three accomplices. Al-Amin beat the factory owner and then exchanged the victim for money to Robin and Sumon. The three then took her to an abandoned building and raped her," added the inspector.
