Three people were killed and three others injured in separate lightning strikes in Chattogram's Fatikchhari and Mirsharai upazilas on Sunday morning.

The incident took place around 10 am.

The deceased were identified as Lucky Das, 38, Bhanu Shil, 40, residents of Kanchannagar union of Fatikchhari upazila and Sajjad Hossain, 15, resident of Muradpur area in Mirsharai upazila.

Mohammad Mujibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mirsharai Police Station, said that after being hit by a lightning strike, the schoolboy Sajjad died on the spot while his father Rafiq Islam sustained critical injury.

Mohammad Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Fatikchhari Police Station said that four women were injured critically in a lightning strike while they were working in an arable field.

Later, the injured were taken to local Abdul Monayem General Hospital where duty doctors pronounced Lucky and Bhanu dead.
