No protest over Road law till June 30: Shahjahan Khan

Shajahan Khan, president of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation and a parliament member, has said transportation workers will not protest the newly-implemented road transport law until June 30.
He urged the government to remove "flaws" from the Road Transport Act within the said date next year.
"There are some inconsistencies in the Road Transport Act. We will abide by the law if these flaws are fixed within June 30 next year. No protest will be staged during this time," Shahjahan said.

He said this during a meeting with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Saturday in the capital's Dhanmondi.
"However, strict steps will be taken if the demands are not met within this period," Shahjahan added.
The home minister echoed his previous statement, saying drivers will be allowed to use their current licences until June 30 and will have to collect appropriate licences by then.
Mir Shahidul Islam, additional inspector general of the special branch of police, and Md Shafiqul Islam, commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, were present at the meeting among others.
