Gold price rises to Tk73,483 per bhori
Gold prices also hiked in the domestic market due to shortage of gold imports for suspension of international flights and various complications
The gold prices will increase by Tk2,041 per bhori in the local bullion market from Sunday (23 May).
As per new rate, per bhori quality gold such as 22-carat gold will cost Tk73,483 now; it was Tk71,442 till Saturday.
Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (Bajus) came up with the decision as the prices of gold are climbing in the international market.

"Gold prices hiked in the world market due the economic crisis and various complex equations caused by Covid situation. Gold prices also increased in the domestic market due to shortage of gold imports for suspension of international flights and various bureaucratic complications," Bajus said in a press release.
According to the new rate, the price of 22 carat bhori (11.664gm) of gold will be increased by Tk2,041 and will cost Tk73,483 from Sunday.
21-carat gold will cost Tk70,334 while 18-carat gold will be available at Tk61,586 and gold acquired in traditional method will cost Tk51263.
Bajus has kept the price of silver unchanged. Each bhori of 22-carat silver will be sold at Tk1,516 while 21-carat and 18-carat silver are still available at Tk1,435 and Tk1,225 respectively.
The prices of silver acquired in traditional methods will remain at Tk 933 per bhori.
Till Saturday, the price of 22-carat gold was Tk71,442 per bhori. The price of 21-carat gold was Tk68,293 per bhori while 18-carat gold was available at Tk59,545 and gold acquired in traditional method was sold for Tk49,222.
