A Dhaka court has placed Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mamunul Haque on 5-day fresh remand in two cases filed with Paltan police station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder granted police the remand after hearing on Tuesday.

Police sought a 17-day remand for quizzing Mamunul in connection with the violence at Baitul Mukarram Mosque in March this year.

Previously, Mamunul was remanded for 14 days in two phases. He was arrested from Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrasa in Dhaka's Mohammadpur on 18 April.
