Dhaka Metropolitan Police (detective branch) rescued Hafazat-e-Islam joint secretary general Mamunul Haque's 'second wife' Jannat Ara Jhorna from a home in the city's Mohammadpur on Tuesday.

DB police said they got information that Jannat Ara Jhorna was confined in the home of Mamunul Haque's sister Dilruba in Mohammadpur. They raided the house and rescued her from there, reports Banglatribune.

Jannat Ara Jhorna will be handed over to her family following legal procedures, the official added.

On 11 April, Jhorna's oldest son Abdur Rahman filed a general dairy with Paltan Police Station to rescue his mother, missing since 3 April.

On 27 April, Jhorna's father filed another general dairy with Kalabagan Police Station in this connection.

On 3 April, local government supporters surrounded Mamunul Haque for staying with a woman at the Royal Resort in Sonargaon, Narayanganj. On that day he claimed that the woman he was with was his second wife whom he married two years ago.
