Rangunia Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anwar Hossain Shamim confirmed the matter to The Business Standard and said Muhibullah sustained injuries after the supporters of Mamunul Haque attacked him from a protest rally on Saturday.

Anwar Hossain further said two cases were filed at Rangunia Police Station in connection with the attack that day.

"Now the cases will be considered as murder cases. Police have started taking legal action against the accused," he added.
