The members of law enforcement agencies have arrested the Hejajat-e-Islam leader who came to discussion after picketing on a horse during the 28 March hartal from Baghaichhari upazila of the district.

A team of Rapid Action Battalion and Police led by Lt Commander Golam Mirza arrested him from Kabirpur Mahilla Khatme Nabuwat Zamiriah Madrasa late night on Friday.

Confirming his arrest, Baghaichhari Police Station's Officer-in-Charge Anower Hossain said Rab officials left for Dhaka along with Hassan on early Saturday.

The head master of the Madrasah Nazmul Islam said one of his brother sent Hassan to him on travel purpose two days back. Rab picked him up at dead of night on Friday.

"I do not know why he was arrested," Nazmul added.

Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Shariful Islam said the Madrasah is not registered one. Necessary action will be taken soon against the institution.

It has been alleged that Hassan took part in the hartal that was called to protest the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Dhaka visit. He reportedly torched several vehicles and carried on vandalism during the hartal in Dhaka.
